Meet Avery Fender
The September 2021 elementary student of the month at Ignite Christian Academy (ICA) is Avery Fender, a 3rd grade student who would much rather eat sushi than mac and cheese or pizza. A student in her second year at ICA, Avery has already lived in four different time zones in her young life and currently calls central New Mexico home. While her teachers have enjoyed having Avery as a student, Avery has enjoyed the flexibility online schooling gives her family to travel around the country.
“Avery has been diligently working on her assignments,” wrote elementary teacher Marianne Jeffries. “She even submitted double the work for two of her tests. She did not let these extended testing times discourage her. She kept working hard and is continuing to excel in her academics. I am nominating her for her perseverance in her schoolwork.”

“Gaby is a 7th grader who is very conscientious and motivated to learn in all of her classes,” wrote history teacher Becky Novack in nominating her for this month’s honor. “Gaby regularly schedules appointments, which can be a struggle because she is on the other side of the world (Dubai)! She communicates what she needs help with and is always energetic and ready to learn. It is obvious through discussion that she has spent time with her lessons and is giving it her all. It is always a pleasure to start my school day in a meeting with Gaby!” [Read more…]
