The August 2018 student of the month is Avery Parker, a fifth-grade student from northwest Georgia who loves to sing and make people laugh. In just her first year at Ignite Christian Academy, Avery has already made a strong impression on her teachers.
“She is awesome to talk to and always tries her hardest,” said Mrs. Kristin Blind, who nominated Avery for this month’s honor. “She is also great to talk to because she is always ready to try and connect with you on a personal level.”
My ICA Story
I’ve been a student at ICA since January of 2018. My mom started researching homeschool options and found out about ICA that way. We decided to enroll because of the access to teachers and the challenging curriculum.
Why I Love ICA
My favorite part is being able to take breaks between my subjects if I need them. Also, having the option to do school in pajamas is always fun!
My Favorite Subject
My favorite subject is science because I get to do experiments and I love to learn about animals.
My Family
I have a sister who is 3. We mostly play pretend together. We play with her kitchen and dress up. We sing a lot, too.
My Hobbies
In my free time I like to read, draw, and play board games with my mom. By biggest accomplishment is singing solos in front of large crowds. I love to sing, even though it’s a little scary sometimes.
My Goals
I’m only 10, but I do plan to go to Berry College and have a Siberian Husky in the future. I would love to work with animals somehow, maybe rescuing those who are hurting and finding them good homes.
My Words of Wisdom
Take a lot of notes and study them. Also, don’t be afraid to ask your teachers for help.
