The September 2021 student of the month at Ignite Christian Academy (ICA) is Gabrielle Aleyah Isaac, a 7th grade student who lives on the coast of the Persian Gulf in the largest city of the United Arab Emirates, Dubai. Whether she’s working on her studies or baking a tasty cheesecake in the kitchen, the second-year ICA student consistently gives her best effort.
“Gaby is a 7th grader who is very conscientious and motivated to learn in all of her classes,” wrote history teacher Becky Novack in nominating her for this month’s honor. “Gaby regularly schedules appointments, which can be a struggle because she is on the other side of the world (Dubai)! She communicates what she needs help with and is always energetic and ready to learn. It is obvious through discussion that she has spent time with her lessons and is giving it her all. It is always a pleasure to start my school day in a meeting with Gaby!”
My ICAStory
I have been a student at ICA since last year. I joined when I was in 6th grade. We learned about ICA from one of our church friends. They have been in this school for some time, and we decided to join because of the many great things we heard about this school and how it’s helping students learn with great standards.
Why I Love ICA
I love how we can communicate with our teachers remotely and have one-on-one discussions with them on the lessons. This is something unique about ICA. Not all homeschooling platforms make this available for students.
My Favorite Subject
I really love Bible! I love learning and growing closer to God.
My Family
I have two younger siblings. Michelle is in 5th grade, and Daniel who is in 3rd grade. My siblings and I love to sing, dance, and be active. We have started a YouTube channel using the Toca Boca app. We use creative writing and storytelling with a moral lesson to educate other kids to be kind, respectful, and considerate of others.
My family and I were able to take care of my grandparents for a couple of months when they got COVID. We helped our 76-year-old Thatha walk around the house compound. We also served him food, gave him meds, massaged his legs and arms, checked his vitals, and helped him exercise until he was able to move on his own.
My Life in Dubai
As a kid, I love how the UAE government has made many fun things for the residents to do like virtual reality parks, waterparks, amusement parks, and many more. I’m also proud of the many accomplishments Dubai is known for. Dubai is a safe place to live. There are so many opportunities for families to enjoy, and I am so blessed to be residing here.
My Hobbies
I love to listen to music, paint, create videos, and spend time with my friends, family, and my pets. Not a lot of people know that I love baking. I am able to bake cheesecake the professional way!
My Dream Job
My dream is to become a pastry chef and own a bakery/cafe with my sister. Baking makes me happy, and once I open a bakery, I can give people jobs or make it a community place where people can hang out. It would be great if homeschool students would come and study, while possibly meeting other homeschoolers.
My Goals
I hope to do well in all my subjects and get good grades when I graduate from high school, so I can get into a good university and hopefully get a scholarship. With the money my parents would save, I would start my own business.
My Words of Wisdom
If you study hard and do well, you will become successful and will be able to achieve your dreams. In the process, submit all your ways to the Lord, so He can bless the desires of your heart.
