Meet our student of the month, Julie Campbell. She’s a 10th grader from Florida who dreams of serving abroad as a missionary after graduation.
Reasons I Love Ignite Christian Academy
We used LIFEPACS when I was younger, so when my mom discovered ICA as we searched for online schools, we decided to enroll.
My favorite part of distance learning is being able to feel like part of a school with friends and teachers, but having the security and comfort of being at home. I also like that I can do school anywhere at any time!
When I first started at ICA I thought I would be working more on my own, but to my surprise the teachers are super nice and love to give help freely! The fact that they always remember me and we can always make conversation easily has really helped me feel like a part of the school. I also enjoy how kind other students are. I have made some pretty awesome friends through the online classes and the student center.
Favorite Subjects
I love all of my classes, but the ones that tend to stick better are French, math, and history. I have always had amazing teachers for these subjects and I have made many friends and connections through the online classes. I love learning about the culture in France and enjoy speaking a new language. I like logical stuff, so math is great! Plus, the teachers helped me understand and survive the hard stuff. History has always been one of my favorite classes too. In particular, I like religious histories.
Hobbies & Activities
I really enjoy playing ultimate frisbee on Sunday afternoons with my friends from a youth choir group called Jubilation. My friend invited me to play while we were on a mission trip, and I had a lot of fun!
In addition, I sometimes sing with the band at our church. I like to help lead worship because it gives me a sense of joy I only get when singing. My other hobbies include painting pictures, writing stories, and reading novels and plays.
Family Life
I am the youngest of seven kids. I have two older brothers and four older sisters, most of whom are married. I love to do projects and chat with my sisters, and I tend to enjoy talking and doing physical work with my brothers. We often do simple but meaningful things together like grabbing coffee, helping each other with projects, and going out. I also have two nieces and two nephews that I love to spend time with!
Future Plans
After high school, I would like to go to college to earn a degree in either nursing or business. I would love to work as a medical nurse or own my own little café someday. I also want to go on some mission expeditions to South America or Africa after I graduate from high school. If I could have any job, I'd be a traveling missionary. I'd love to go to other countries and help the people who have experienced major disasters and need people to help them get back on their feet with Christ as a new foundation. Someday I also hope to get married, have children, and buy a house close to my family in Florida.
