The high school student of the month for May, is graduating senior, William Davidson. In his three years here at ICA, David has been incredibly active, making a significant impact on his peers and the faculty. David is active in the student center, clubs, and classes, and most notably, is a prominent staple in our monthly chapel, Ignite Worship.
David can often be seen sharing his musical talents during the praise and worship section of the event, and Mrs. Nice noted “William has always been there for Ignite Worship in a crunch. He is ready to share his talents at a moment’s notice. He is positive and just a fantastic role model for other students.”
My ICA Story
Ever since I was in kindergarten I was homeschooled. The curriculum we used was made by a company that is affiliated with ICA. I started at ICA because my parents wanted me to have real teachers and counselors to learn from and talk to during my time in high school.
My favorite part of online learning is the fact that it is self-paced. I am able to wake up at a decent time and do things like workout or practice my instruments before doing school. One thing that surprised me was how nice the entire staff is. Every single person I have talked to at this school has been very encouraging and helpful.
What is your favorite subject and why?
My favorite subject is math. I enjoy math because it is all based on logic, and it never changes. I also enjoy seeing how math can be applicable in the real world.
Where do you live and what do you enjoy about living there?
I live on the east coast of North Carolina on a military base. I like living here because of all the neat stuff to see around here. Just down the street from my house are tanks! You can also see an aircraft called an Osprey (a helicopter/airplane) take off and land all the time which is fun to watch. Being right near the water, I can also go fishing a lot and go to the beach.
How do you like to spend your free time?
I like to spend my free time playing the drums, guitar, and also singing! I like to practice and record covers of songs and even write my own songs.
Do you have any siblings? If so, what kinds of things do you like to do together?
I have three younger siblings. I enjoy doing things outside with them like playing baseball and jumping on the trampoline. I also enjoy playing music with them.
What would others be surprised to learn about you?
I have been playing the guitar for about 11 years which is longer than half my life! I am also a coach for my little brother’s baseball team and I can solve a Rubik’s cube in less than 30 seconds.
Of what accomplishment in life are you most proud?
I am most proud of what I have done in all things concerning music. I have successfully written and published a song. I have also performed covers of some of my favorite songs by August Burns Red, Fit For a King, and others.
Do you have any plans or goals after you graduate from high school?
I am planning on going to community college to get some basic credits out of the way before transferring to another school. I hope to study to get a job in the music industry.
If you could have any job in the world, which one would you choose and why?
I would choose to be a guitarist and/or drummer. I really enjoy playing these instruments and I believe that God has gifted me with this skill. I would love to be able to do what I love while glorifying God!
If you could offer advice to your classmates, what would it be?
Whatever you do, give it your all, and trust God with your whole heart. This is based off one of my favorite verses of the Bible, Colossians 3:23.
