About Me
I grew up in Central Illinois, and after several years in various other places, I am back in Central Illinois about 45 minutes from my hometown.
Favorite Verse
My favorite verse is 1 Corinthians 16:14, which says, “Do all things in love.” I like this verse because I think it is a very simple mantra to live by, and if we can abide by it, then we’ll naturally be abiding by pretty much everything else God asks of us. We all fall short of it, but if we asked ourselves, “Am I doing this out of love?” every time we made a decision, the world would be a better place.
First Job
My first job out of college was as a math teacher at a middle school in Boston, and my first job ever was as a bean walker when I was in middle school.
Hobbies
My biggest hobby is basketball (watching it, playing it, reading about it, and writing about it). I write for a women’s basketball website called Her Hoop Stats covering the WNBA and NCAA women’s basketball, as well as occasionally high school or other levels. Helping the women’s game grow is something I am passionate about.
Bucket List Item
I have several, but a fun one at the top of the list is to play bubble soccer.
Favorite Place
My favorite vacation was a family vacation to Puerto Rico. Obviously the climate was nice and we had lots of fun, but it was also cool to get to know the locals and the people of the island, who are U.S. citizens but often not regarded as such.
Person I’d Like to Meet
I would want to meet Helen Keller. I am in awe when I hear her story, and I would love to learn more about her journey.
