How long have you been a student at Ignite Christian Academy and what led you to enroll?
At my former school, I always felt that I was held back. I never did reach my full potential. For a short time, the school used the Ignitia program for their foreign language courses. So, when I heard about ICA, I saw it as an opportunity to bring out the best in me. Currently, this is my second year of enrollment and I love it.
What is your favorite subject and why?
History has always been a favorite of mine. It shows where we as humans have been and it can give hints as to where we are going. More importantly, it shows the mistakes our ancestors made. We can learn from them, and we don't have to make the same mistakes.
What is your favorite part of distance learning?
I love the flexibility. I can do my coursework whenever I need to. If I have a busy schedule one day, I can do the work the day before.
Is there anything you've encountered while studying at ICA that has surprised you?
I find the curriculum more challenging than the one at my former school. Actually, I like the fact that it's more of a challenge.
Describe yourself as a person.
I consider myself to be self-motivated and disciplined (most of the time, I am 16 after all). It always makes me happy when God uses me to help somebody and put a smile on their face.
How do you like to spend your free time?
I mainly spend my free time reading my Bible, watching television, and spending time with my family.
Are you involved in any local clubs or activities?
For a service project, I decided to volunteer at a local nursing home. The first time I went, I enjoyed helping people and ministering to them. So, I wanted go back, and I've stuck with it since then.
If you could pursue any career in the world which one would you choose and why?
Ever since I was little, I've had this passion for the railroad industry. I would like to be an engineer and work on the railroad.
What are your future plans and dreams?
My plan is to follow God. God called me to preach. So, I'm going to follow the call. When I let God have His way with me, everything else will fall into place.
What would others be surprised to learn about you?
ICA's flexibility has allowed me to take classes at Troy University using their dual enrollment program. I currently have 21 credit hours, and I don't plan on stopping.
Of what accomplishment in life are you most proud?
At the end of my ninth grade year I took the ACT and scored a 22.
If you could offer a bit of advice to fellow ICA students, what would it be?
Trust in God and lean on Him. He has helped me a lot with school and life. He's given me opportunity after opportunity. He constantly shows His grace and favor. If He'll do that for me, He'll do the same for you.
