March's student of the month is Jewel Bramley from Arkansas. An aspiring Philanthropist who hopes to one day enter the legal field, Jewel took some time from her volunteer work to tell us more about herself.
ICA: Describe yourself as a person.
Jewel Bramley: I am outgoing and like to help others. I'm also adventurous and like to try new things.
ICA: What grade are you in and what courses are you taking? Do you have any long term goals in mind?
Jewel: I am in the 7th grade and am taking language arts, science, history, and math. My goals are to eventually earn a scholarship to a college or university that teaches criminology and law.
ICA: How long have you been enrolled with ICA? What circumstances led to you being enrolled with ICA?
Jewel: I have been enrolled for 3 years. Some close friends of my parents told us about ICA and recommended it.
ICA: What aspect of ICA do you enjoy the most?
Jewel: Being able to talk to the teachers to help me solve problems whenever I need and that I am able to work at my own pace.
ICA: Describe a few of your hobbies and interests.
Jewel: My hobbies are volleyball, gymnastics, horseback riding, skiing, and cooking. I like to go canoeing, hiking, camping, biking, and fishing. I love to travel and have been to a lot of places in the United States. I also like to read about and solve mysteries.
ICA: Do you have a personal testimony that you would be willing to share?
Jewel: My three siblings and I were adopted when I was 14 months old. My new parents showed me the love of God and I have loved learning about Jesus ever since. I was saved when I was 7 years old.
ICA: Are you a member of any organizations or church groups? And/or do you volunteer someplace special?
Jewel: I am involved in my Church's Wednesday Night Youth Group. I also volunteer at a ministry where they are dedicated to reaching people in the US and all over the world about Jesus.
ICA: If you could use three words to describe yourself what would they be? Why is that?
Jewel: Adventurous, caring, and outgoing. I like to travel and be around people. I also like to help others.
ICA: What are your future plans or dreams?
Jewel: To go to a college or university and study criminology and law so that I can be a criminal investigator or be an investigative lawyer.
ICA: After what motto do you model your life?
Jewel: Treat others like you would want to be treated.
ICA: What is your most treasured possession?
Jewel: My cat, J.C., who is a calico and is almost 3 years old. I absolutely love her.
ICA: Is there anything you have always wanted to do but haven't done yet?
Jewel: Travel to another country, like Ireland or Australia.
ICA: If you could meet anyone, who would that be and why?
Jewel: Benjamin Franklin. He changed how we live our lives today with his remarkable inventions and discoveries, such as electricity, the iron furnace, and the odometer.
ICA: What would others be surprised to learn about you?
Jewel: Since I was 5 years old, I have ridden my own horse with wagon trains several times, covering over 100 miles per trip which would take 6 days.
ICA: How do you want to be remembered when people look back on your life?
Jewel: That I was kind and helped others in need, and maybe even changed how a few people think.
ICA: Of what accomplishment in life are you most proud?
Jewel: I have academically achieved being in the 98th and 99th percentile nationwide several times.
ICA: Is there anything else that you'd like to add about yourself?
Jewel: I like to watch cooking shows with my dad and try out new recipes. I also live on a ranch and help take care of 3 horses and cattle. I love to ski with my brother while he snowboards.
