Meet our April student of the month, Mattilyn Stacy. Described by her education coordinator as an exceptional student, the 6th grader from Missouri also has an artistic side that she likes to employ during her free time.
My ICA Story
Our family discovered Ignite Christian Academy when my mom researched and talked to another parent who had her child enrolled. We decided to enroll because I didn’t enjoy the environment of public school. Plus, ICA offers a better curriculum. I also like the fact that it is faith-based.
My favorite parts of distance learning are being able to spend time with my family and having more overall freedom. When I enrolled, I was surprised by how much more time I could spend with family and how much more information was covered in daily lessons.
My favorite subject is language arts because I like being able to express thoughts or feelings through writing. I also enjoy reading and creative writing.
Hobbies and Activities
I like to spend my free time listening to music or drawing. I also play piano, and I am proud of the fact that I taught myself how to play guitar. What sparked my interest in playing piano and guitar was mainly my music interests at the time and wanting to replicate my favorite songs.
My artistic interests have always been with me, as I like the idea of expressing feelings through art. I use these talents mainly to entertain myself in my free time. I am also involved in track and field and Junior Beta Club, a non-profit organization that strives to build leaders by promoting academic achievement, character, service, and leadership.
Fun Facts
I have an older brother and sister, and a little sister. We enjoy playing outside together and just hanging out. I think others would be surprised to learn that I collect Converse and own nine pairs!
Words of Wisdom
If I had a piece of advice to offer to my peers, I would say to make sure to study for tests and quizzes before taking them.
We hope you enjoyed getting to know Mattilyn! Look for our next student of the month feature in May.
