June's student of the month is Texas' own Patrick Smith. We were able to sit down with Patrick, a tenth grader with big plans for his future, to get a glimpse of what makes him such a successful and inspiring student.
ICA: Describe yourself as a person.
Patrick Smith: I'm kind, I'm funny, and I love music. I love to travel. I've even had the opportunity to travel to 42 states and 4 other countries. I've also enjoy participating in various sports through the years such as tae kwon do, football, basketball, and track and field. I believe I have a God-given, natural talent to play and write music. Rhythm has always been in my blood.
ICA: What grade are you in and what courses are you taking? Do you have a particular reason for selecting these courses? Do you have any long term goals in mind?
Patrick: I'm in 10th grade and I'm taking English, world history, Old Testament, geometry, and chemistry. I want to either become a surgical nurse or a music producer.
ICA: What aspect of ICA do you enjoy the most?
Patrick: That I can call in and ask the teachers questions whenever I have trouble with something.
ICA: Describe some of your hobbies and interests.
Patrick: I love to drum. I am actually in a band. I always listen to music, and I love to play video games.
ICA: Are you a member of any organizations or church groups? Do you volunteer someplace special?
Patrick: I go to Young Life.
ICA: If you could use three words to describe yourself what would they be?
Patrick: Funny, Smart, and Musical.
ICA: What are your future plans or dreams?
Patrick: I really want to be a drummer in a band or a music producer. And if those don't work out, then I want to be a surgical nurse.
ICA: After what motto do you model your life?
Patrick: Let it go and live again.
ICA: What is your most treasured possession?
Patrick: My computer.
ICA: Is there anything you have always wanted to do but haven't done yet?
Patrick: I want to go base jumping. It's kind of like sky diving, only not from a plane.
ICA: If you could meet anyone, who would that be and why?
Patrick: I want to meet Navene Koperweis so he can teach me his awesome drumming skills.
ICA: What would others be surprised to learn about you?
Patrick: I was speaking in full sentences by the time I was eight months old.
ICA: Of what accomplishment in life are you most proud?
Patrick: Winning both the long jump and triple jump at the district championships for my old high school's track team.
