Our high school student of the month for Ignite Christian Academy is 12th grade student, Ryanne Hennessy. Ryanne began using our LifePac curriculum and transitioned into our online academy to continue using our curriculum. Ryanne has now been online with ICA for six years now. Her favorite part of online learning is being able to work at her own pace. She can get ahead and either take a few days off or just finish school early.
Ryanne was nominated for this prestigious recognition by math teacher and cooking club leader, Mrs. Lyons who said, “She works diligently on her coursework and is also the president of the cooking club. She regularly communicates with me and other club members to promote the club and plan future events. Ryanne is an excellent listener and shows humility and grace when interacting with her peers with differing worldviews.”
What is your favorite subject and why?
My favorite subject is probably Math. This is my favorite subject because there is always a logical answer. There is always a way to solve a problem.
Is there anything you’ve encountered while studying at ICA that has surprised you?
The thing that surprised me the most was how nice and helpful the teachers are.
Where do you live and what do you enjoy about living there?
I live in New Hampshire, I enjoy living here because it is out in nature. I don’t live in a city; I live with trees all around me and I love it!
How do you like to spend your free time?
I like to spend my free time riding/hanging out with my horse or reading.
Do you have any siblings? If so, what kinds of things do you like to do together?
I have a younger sister and an older brother. I do not do as much with my brother as I do with my sister, but my sister and I watch tv together and do gymnastics.
What would others be surprised to learn about you?
Others would be surprised that I bottle fed an orphan calf this year. Her name is Bambi, and she is now 2 and half months old.
Of what accomplishment in life are you most proud?
One accomplishment I am most proud of is when I finally landed my front handspring. I had been working on it for months and then I finally landed it, and I was so happy.
Do you have any plans or goals after you graduate from high school?
I plan to continue working at barns and gaining more experience at training horses and teaching horseback riding lessons.
If you could have any job in the world, which one would you choose and why?
I would compete in the Olympics show jumping. Not only would this be an amazing opportunity it would also help build a reputation to get more clients who would want me to ride their horse for them, train their horse, or give them lessons.
If you could offer advice to your classmates, what would it be?
My advice would be to never skip a day unless you have to. Even if it is Thursday and there is nothing due until Monday you should still do a lesson on Friday, so you can get ahead and either take a day off for a sick day or just finish early.
