Meet Scott Ventrello, a 10th grader who has lived in four different countries with his parents who serve as missionaries. Scott enjoys spending time with friends, volunteering, and encourages his peers to experience and get to know other cultures.
Missionary Life
I was born in Paisley, Scotland and have lived in Scotland, England, South Korea, and the United States. We have moved a lot and I don't feel at home anywhere. I enjoy traveling, seeing new places, and experiencing new cultures. I suppose I feel most at home when I am with other missionary kids that have also lived in multiple countries.
Unspoken Connections
Football, or Soccer to Americans, is something that every country I've lived in has in common, and I have been able to play the sport in each country. In South Korea, I made friends playing football without having to speak their language.
The Distance Learning Journey
I work hard in school and like being involved at church. My parents enrolled me at ICA because the school has accreditation and teacher support. I like working at my own pace and I also enjoy meeting students in the online classes and clubs. I am proud of working hard and getting good grades.
Faith, Family, and Friends
I am a born again Christian. I go to Bethany Baptist Church, which is a small country church in Georgia that is pastored by my Dad. He is a missionary for Source of Light International, which is a printing and discipleship ministry. I enjoy helping out at the mission and hanging out with my friends there.
A Devoted Volunteer
On Sundays and Wednesdays, I operate the sound system at my church. I also help with youth whenever needed. During the school year, we have a monthly kids club where I help out with games. In the summer, we have VBS and I help by being a part of the puppet shows and by being an assistant youth team leader.
I also volunteer at an animal shelter for a few hours a week. I have been helping by assisting in a puppy training class where I am also learning about training dogs. I use what I have learned to help socialize dogs in the shelter so that they have some training and will more easily be adopted. I also help socialize the cats.
Looking Forward
Someday I hope to go to university and study for a science degree. I am considering going into a medical field of some type.
