Meet our September student of the month, William Masselli. He is a junior who has studied at Ignite Christian Academy since first grade. In his free time, William enjoys playing and watching basketball.
My ICA Story
I am a junior and have been enrolled in Ignite Christian Academy since I was in the first grade. I learned about ICA from my parents, and I decided to enroll because I saw that it was a good Christian homeschool program.
During my education at ICA, I have encountered obstacles that I thought would be very difficult. For example, earlier this year I was apprehensive about taking Honors History and Spanish III. After a few weeks of working hard, I am much more comfortable and I am enjoying the classes.
Favorite Subject
My favorite subject is language arts because I get to practice my writing and reading skills.
The Best Thing about Online Learning
My favorite part of distance learning is being at home and spending more time with family. It gives me flexibility to work on other projects.
Hobbies & Activities
I take a special interest in playing basketball. I have watched basketball on TV ever since I was little. In this upcoming season, not only am I going to play, but also I want to coach a recreational league team. In addition to playing basketball, I like to spend my free time canoeing, swimming, and tubing.
Family Life
I have one brother. We like to play basketball, canoe, and swim when we spend time together. Others would be surprised to learn that my mom is from Colombia, South America. Another surprising fact is that my mom is just over five feet tall, and I am significantly taller.
My Greatest Accomplishment
My biggest accomplishment is building a house with my family that is completely made of steel. The project took a lot of research, and the house is comprised of 7 or 8 recycled cars. This type of house is environmentally friendly and leaves a low carbon footprint.
Dream Job
If I could have any job, I would choose to be a meteorologist so I could predict the weather accurately and save people from violent storms. Also, weather has intrigued me ever since I was young.
Words of Wisdom
My advice for other students would be to never give up hope on an assignment because no matter how hard it is you can successfully complete it by asking your teachers for help and by working hard.
We hope you enjoyed getting to know William! Look for our next student of the month feature in October.
