Explore the history of artistic movements that reflect the evolving cultures and beliefs of European countries. In this one-semester elective course, students explore European art history from the Middle Ages to the 18th century. the development of art across civilizations and discover how culture, history, and belief shape creative expression. This one-semester course traces major artistic movements from early civilizations through the Romantic era. Through the study of art history, students discover how culture, history, and belief shape creative expression and are reflected in its evolving traditions.

In this course, students will learn:

  • Middle Ages to Early European Art
  • Renaissance Art Innovations
  • Baroque Movements
  • Impacts of Religion & Politics

Students explore the major artistic movements that spanned several centuries and continue to impact artistic styles today. Through the study of the religious, political, and cultural upheaval characterizing many of these historical periods, students explore their impact on stylistic choices, symbolism, and much more.
