Dive into the rich diversity of global art traditions and the evolution of the modern artistic movements. This one-semester course continues the studies of Art History I as students explore the history of artistic movements around the world, analyzing the social and historical forces that shaped them.

In this course, students will learn:

  • How Art Reflects & Transforms

Studying artistic movements around the world from 1200 CE to the present, students will analyze the social and historical forces that shaped modern art. Following lessons on European and American art movements of the 18th-19th centuries, students examine 20th-century developments, gaining a comprehensive understanding of how art reflects and transforms culture across time and place.
