Discover how music tells the story of human culture across centuries. This one-semester course explores the elements of music, major historical periods, and the lasting influence of composers and musical styles from ancient times to today.

In this course, students will learn:

  • Jazz & Popular Music

Students examine rhythm, melody, harmony, form, and dynamics while learning how to listen critically and thoughtfully. From ancient civilizations and the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, jazz, and modern popular music, this course helps students understand how music reflects society and shapes the world around us.
