Learn how music is written, structured, and expressed in this engaging introduction to music theory. In this one-semester course, students build foundational skills in analyzing, and composing music. Basic music reading skills are necessary before enrolling in this class.

In this course, students will learn:

  • Rhythm & Meter
  • Intervals & Scales
  • Harmony & Chords
  • Composition & Ear Training

Students complete interactive lessons using Noteflight®, an online music composition tool, to create original works based on standard notation. With classical examples and hands-on projects, this course helps students understand and express music with clarity and creativity.
